It just started out as a routine ghee refill activity which I do every time ghee gets over at home! 🙆🏻‍♀️ But somehow one thing led to another and we homemade some delicious Mysore Pak today!

While the flavor was super authentic, I wasn’t too happy when I tried making pieces of them! But then I thought, who set the standards for shapes anyway?! I see the irregular shapes as a charm of the authenticity of homemaking these treats! ✨

Oh! And did I mention this? It takes only 3 ingredients to make the Mysore Pak!

A festive mood just set in our home today! 🤩

Looking forward to making more sweet treats, From my Kitchen Today, Ghee Mysore Pak! ✨

Course: Indian Sweets

Difficulty: 🟩🟩⬜️⬜️⬜️

Servings: 12 pieces

Noted: This recipe makes the traditional, burfi-like, crunchy Mysore Pak

Ingredients:

This recipe is a proportion based one and the cup measures I used was a 200ml cup

Besan/ Gram Flour - 1 cup

Ghee/ Clarified Butter - 1/2 cup + 6 Tbsp

Water - 1/4 cup

Sugar - 1 cup

Method:

  1. In a heavy bottomed pan, add the gram flour and roast on medium flame until it turns aromatic. Then remove from heat and set aside.

  2. Add 1/2 cup ghee to the roasted gram flour and whisk until it is smooth and lump free

  3. Grease a square or rectangular tin and line with parchment paper and set aside

  4. In another heavy bottomed pan, heat 1/4 cup water along with sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar is dissolved and it forms one string consistency (you can Google this ;))

  5. Add the whisked flour and ghee mixture to the sugar syrup and stir continuously

  6. At intervals of 2 mins, add 2 tablespoons of ghee and keep mixing (6tbsps in all)

  7. The mixture comes together and leaves the pan

  8. Remove from heat at this stage and pour into a greased pan

  9. Once completely cool, cut into pieces of desired shapes
