My newest fancy has been making ghee at home! I don’t go the whole nine yards however, I make it from store-bought butter. I simply love the smell and I was super tempted to make some melt-in-the-mouth Mysore-Pak šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³

But now that I’m watching my diet (sort of ) I had to make a healthier choice! šŸ§˜šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

While I was browsing through some recipes, this one looked super simple to make and felt healthy too! So here’s presenting to you, From my Kitchen Today - ā€œUrad Dhal Laddooā€!

PS: I may succumb to my Mysore Pak temptations very soon! Watch this space to know ;)

Course: Snack/ Sweets

Difficulty: šŸŸ©šŸŸ©ā¬œļøā¬œļøā¬œļø

Servings: 10 bite sized laddoos

Ingredients:

Urad Dhal - 1.5 cup

Ghee - 1/4 cup

Sugar - 1/2 cup

Cardamom - 3

Raisin - 15

Method:

  1. In a medium sized saucepan, roast 1.5 cups of Urad Dhal until it turns reddish (do not allow it to brown)

  2. Once it turns reddish and aromatic, remove from heat and allow it to cool completely

  3. Grind the roasted Dhal to a fine powder and set aside in a deep bowl

  4. In a mixer jar, powder sugar along with 3 whole cardamoms and add this is to the Dhal powder

  5. In a pan, melt 1/4 cup ghee and add raisins to it. Once they puff up, pour the hot ghee with raisins into the Dhal and sugar mixture

  6. Mix the ghee into the powder and once it’s blended in well, use your hands to shape bite sized balls

  7. Shape the laddoos gently as they tend to crumble easily

  8. Enjoy these guilt-free protein rich snacks!
