Once a dosa lover, always a dosa lover! I love dosas of all kinds and I can eat them for any meal, at any time of the day! So when I wanted to pick a breakfast option today, I knew it had to be a variety of dosa! š¤
The ingredients of the regular dosa batter donāt really fit in our staple pantry, plus, I donāt have time to let it ferment! So I wanted to make a dosa which used only rice and didnāt require any fermentation š (Too much to ask, I know!š )
But guess what? I actually found a recipe!

āNeer Dosaā or āGhavanā is a rice crepe thatās made with 3 ingredients (i.e., if youāre counting water and salt!) Otherwise, all you need is any short-grain rice and youāre good to go!
Neer Dosa translates to ā Water Dosaā is a delicacy from the Tulu speaking cities of Udupi and Mangalore. Itās simplicity to prepare and versatility in terms of what side goes with it makes the Neer dosae a winner breakfast option š¤
I made a green chutney to go with mine today; not coriander, not mint - but a flavorful spinach chutney! š„¬
From my Kitchen Today, for round 6 of the #PnatryStaplesChallenge, āNeer Dosaā

Ingredients:
Raw Rice - 2 cups
Salt - to taste
Water - for soaking and grinding
Method:
Wash the rice well, rinsing it 3-4 times
Soak the rice in water for about 6-8 hours (best if left overnight)
After about 8 hours, grind the soaked rice along with water to form a smooth and runny batter. Unlike the batter for regular dosa which is of spreadable consistency, batter for the Neer Dosa must be of pouring consistency
Add salt to the batter and mix well
Heat a non-stick pan and brush oil
When the pan is hot, pour the batter and tilt the pan around to spread the batter evenly
Close the pan with a lid and let the dosa cook over low heat for about 2-3 minutes
Fold the dosa in half and remove from the pan or very gently, flip the dosa and cook on the other side as well, if you like it well done
Serve the Neer Dosa with any kind of chutney, sambar or gravy of your choice
I made a Spinach Chutney to go with my Neer Dosa today :)
